When purchasing a diamond, the most important characteristics every consumer should have a knowledge and understanding of are the 4 C's.

Cut 
Undoubtedly, the cut is the most important of the 4 C’s. Why? Because it has the greatest influence on the brilliance and sparkle of the stone.

Color
A close second to the cut is the color. A whiter stone is more valuable and leads to a higher grade.

Clarity
Clarity is yet another important factor. While every diamond is unique to its own characteristics, diamonds with the fewest and smallest inclusions receive the highest clarity grade. Along with the higher grading comes the higher price tag.

Carat
Lastly, the term carat refers to the diamond total weight, and not it’s size. There’s a lot of misconception around that. Bigger isn’t always necessarily better. Hence the importance of the cut, color and clarity of the diamond.
